Whittlesea Primary School collects and uses student and parent personal information for standard school functions or where permitted by law, as stated in the School’s Privacy Policy and the School’s Privacy Collection Notice.

Our Photographing, Filming, and Recording Students Policy describes how we collect and use photographs, videos, and recordings of students. The policy also explains when parent consent is required and how it can be provided and withdrawn. We ask parents to also review the guidance we provide on how we use Microsoft 365 &/or Google Workspace for Education safely at the school and what parents can do to further protect their child’s information.

At Whittlesea Primary School we ensure good privacy practices by:

• training and supporting staff to answer questions about why information is collected, how it is handled, and how it will be used.
• providing parents and the school community with detailed information about school systems and projects.
• ensuring staff are aware of and understand the School’s Privacy Policy and the privacy guidance and resources published in the Department of Education’s Policy and Advisory Library (PAL).
• reviewing who has access rights to student and staff records and whether information is being shared on a need-to-know basis.
• promoting good information management by ensuring staff know which systems to use for sensitive and health records.
