Welcome and Wominjeka to Whittlesea Primary School.
My name is Kaylene Kubeil, and I am very proud to be the Principal of this school. On behalf of our Assistant Principal, Rae Gittos, Acting Assistant Principal Matt Kirkright, and all the staff we welcome you to explore this website
At Whittlesea Primary School we have a strong history as the ‘local’ school within the Whittlesea community for over 100 years. In leading this school, I am committed to continuing this proud history through fostering and advancing community engagement and partnerships.
As in our school’s vision, the school is a place where learning is highly valued. We strive to develop and support the emotional, social, and physical wellbeing of the whole child. We create a positive climate for learning that encourages all children to become collaborative and innovative members of local and global communities. At the forefront of this direction, we have a passion for preparing our children for successful and productive futures. Through approaches to learning that embrace interest and curiosity, the students at Whittlesea Primary School learn through multiple experiences, including hands-on opportunities that build connection, knowledge, understanding, and application.
Students also benefit from a positive, and encouraging culture that is reinforced by our commitment to the School-wide Positive Behaviour Support framework (SWPBS). At our school, we have well-defined whole-school expectations of ‘Do You Best’, ‘Respect Your School’, and ‘Help Others Succeed’. We continually accentuate the expectations and associated behaviours we want to see, and constantly reinforce these through the identification of the desired behaviour, followed by recognition. In 2024, the school achieved the GOLD SWPBS award through the Vic SWPBS initiative. Schools that are awarded Gold, demonstrate the full implementation of SWPBS features including Effective Teaching and Learning Practices with exemplary methodology in place in the year of submission.
Our staff are dedicated educators who strive to meet the individual learning needs of every child. Our specialist program includes Physical Education, PE Boost (F-2), the Arts, Chinese (Mandarin), and STEM (Science Technology Engineering, and Mathematics) (Yrs 3-6) we offer a comprehensive range of experiences that are underpinned and informed by the Victorian Curriculum.
Our school’s recreation areas include an undercover basketball court, a synthetic soccer pitch, and a football oval. We also have multiple playgrounds, including a large inclusive play space, that support the essential part of a child’s development and are critical for the successful growth of both the brain and the body. Our Playgrounds promote cognitive, emotional, physical, and social development all while disguising it as play. These expansive outdoor spaces allow our students the opportunity to play collaboratively and be active without feeling overcrowded.
We invite prospective families to book a tour of the school to look around our unique setting that enjoys a country feel, is full of character and history, and strives to provide the most state-of-the-art education outcomes for all.
Kind Regards
Kaylene Kubeil
